Applications for Volunteer Firefighters and Support Staff
This is a volunteer job. Osage Fire Dept is a 100% Volunteer Fire Dept. None of our Firefighters are paid a salary, compensated per fire run, or enrolled in the Oklahoma Firefighter Pension. We do this job and serve district for free. Volunteer Firefighters are employees of the department and are covered with workers compensation insurance. Our Fire Board also provides additional coverages to protect firefighters in the event of loss or damage or personal property or loss of wages due to fire department work related loss or injury . While no experience in emergency service is required, we do require that you:
- Be 18 years of age or older. There is no maximum age
- Have no current convictions for serious violent crime
- All Firefighters must be of good moral character and maintain proper hygiene and behavior when representing the fire department
- Must have a current drivers license
- Though legal in Oklahoma with a medical license, we do not allow marijuana use as this is a safety sensitive work place and cannabis use could risk the safety of the public, our staff and equipment.
- Must have transportation to get to the station for calls and regular training (Training is 1 to 2 days a month; typically one weeknight and one weekend day training)
- Most training Must complete a defined list of training classes within 1 year of hire date. The Department will pay for all training cost including transportation to required training classes if not available at our station.
- Live within 1o miles of one of our station: 40 S 427 (Hwy 20 and S427 road) or 8018 W 530 (S427 and W530 Road)
